Dear families in Christ,
After the first few intense World Cup games, Pastor Ohm shared a message with us. He talked about Christians as the soccer players and God cheering for us instead of the fans. Even though we may not be able to follow your ministry like you do for ours, please remember that we are praying for your work in Christ as well. Our Father will use all of us as a team in perfect harmony to score joyful glories for His Kingdom. Yay, goal!
With love,
Abohna, Helen and Jung

GROWING AND EXPANDING

ccOur Zola ministry has been growing. Joy has been working hard with Bosiswe, Wendy's younger sister, to plant another Sunday School at a playground nearby. For three months, they held the Sunday School in the playground, but recently a mama opened her house for the Sunday School. We had 100 bags of chips for both Sunday Schools, but we were very short. We had well over 100 children altogether on Friday.

With Tana, we have been going around visiting homes in Zola talking to people about drinking. It has been a perfect opportunity for us to share the Gospel with them. What we also found out was that many people wanted a Bible study. Many people close to Wendy also wanted a Bible study. We are going to start a Bible study and Saturday at 10 am seems to be a popular choice. Please pray for us for it is our next (big) step into the community.

SCHOLARSHIP MINISTRY

schlarshipA group of friends from Korea gathered together and established a scholarship program for children in Khayelitsha. They wanted to give hope to the childnren. My mother has been involved with the ministry and we went to visit some of the recipients today and we met with 5 out of the 30 children. They recive $30 per month. The 2 year old Lisakhanya danced for us, Yamkela sang 'God protect me' for us, Sesethu acted a scene from a soap opera and Sinethemba in the picture did a soccer goal dance. Doesn't he look like he has hope for his life? You can see their videos here.

JUNE 16TH WAS YOUTH CHRIST DAY

snowThe Youth Day is to honor young people who died during the Soweto Uprising in 1976. On Youth Day. I was invited to speak at the Africa for Christ Church's 5 hour long youth function. I spoke about where Jesus' authority to forgive the woman who committed adultery (John 8:1-11) came from and that it came from his death on the cross. Before Mcebisi (a.k.a. Chicken) invited me to the pulpit, he said, "We are celebrating Youth Day, because they died for our rights, but Jesus died for us to have lives. Let's make this day a Christ day and celebrate Jesus." I didn't think they needed my message after that introduction. Let's make everyday a Christ day and celebrate because of him.

APPROVED!

liyabonaWith 'The way you love your child will determine his way of life.' slogan, Liyabona Montessori started its first term in January this year. It took us 6 months to obtain a proper license. The reason that it took such a long time was the new Acts that was just passed and inspectors did a meticulous review of our school. As of last week, we are the first one to qualify in South Africa to the new standard. We are especially happy, because most of the child care facilities in South Africa are not licensed and are sub standard. Now, we are aiming for the highest standdard... Jesus' love.
